Emily and Matt arrive in 1830s Ontario, where meet John, a young boy from Montreal who is responsible for ensuring that his pregnant mother and younger siblings reach their father and their new plot of land near Peterborough, Ontario. Together they travel rough roads through uncharted forests and down untamed rivers only to reach overcrowded inns and other unforeseen delays on their journey. To top it all off, John fears for his mother’s health — her baby is due to be born any day. Can Emily and Matt help John shoulder this huge responsibility?
